The Zambian government has appealed to Sinomine Resource Group to establish a Multi-Facility Economic Zone MFEZ at Kitumba Mine in Mumbwa District.

Southern Province minister Credo Nanjuwa says the establishment of an MFEZ would boost the district’s economic prospects.

According to Zambia News and Information Services ZANIS Mr Nanjuwa who is also Mumbwa Constituency Member of Parliament was speaking during a courtesy call at Sinomine Resource Group Headquarters in Bejing China recently.

He also called on investors to take advantage of the South Expo 2025 slated for October 12 to 16 and explore the region’s investment potential in sectors such as energy, tourism, agriculture and mining.

Speaking during the same visit, Sinomine Resource Group Chairperson Wang Pingwei noted that the 50-megawatt solar power plant at Sinomine Kitumba Mine is nearing completion.

Mr Wang appealed to ZESCO to expedite the process of connecting the solar plant to the national grid.

Meanwhile, Zambia’s Ambassador to China, Ivan Zyuulu urged Mr Wang to continue collaborating with the Zambian government to expand Sinomine’s investments in Zambia.

He also expressed the government’s appreciation for Sinomine’s contribution through the Kitumba Copper Mine in Mumbwa, which has created employment for many Zambians.
