MUMBWA, ZAMBIA – March 27, 2026 — The Zambia Police Service has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining security and supporting mining operations at Sinomine Kitumba, following a high-level visit by senior police officials to the site.
Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of operations, Mr. Fred Hamaamba, conducted a special visit to Sinomine Kitumba Minerals in Mumbwa, where he toured key operational areas of the mine. Mine Manager Dr. Jining Zhong received him alongside members of the company’s senior management team.

The visit, which took place on March 27, 2026, also included Central Province Police Commissioner Mr. Lamekani Chirwa and Director of Operations, Ms. Mwiinga Nkolola. The delegation engaged with both police officers stationed at the mine and company officials.

The purpose of the visit was to assess the welfare and performance of police officers deployed at the mining site, as well as to strengthen collaboration between the police service and the mining company. Officials emphasized the importance of ensuring a safe and secure environment for continued operations.

During the engagement, Mr. Hamaamba commended the officers for their professionalism and discipline, noting that their conduct contributes significantly to maintaining stability at the site. He further conveyed that Inspector General of Police Graphel Musamba remains fully supportive of the mining sector and is committed to ensuring adequate security across strategic investment areas.

The police leadership assured mine management that security support would be enhanced, with plans to deploy additional officers to meet the growing demands of operations. This move is expected to reinforce round-the-clock security coverage and support the expansion of activities at the mine.
Dr. Jining Zhong expressed appreciation for the continued support from the police service, describing the partnership as critical to the mine’s success. He highlighted the importance of security in sustaining operations and enabling the company to contribute to economic development in Mumbwa and beyond.

In a related address delivered during the visit, police officials acknowledged the significant role Sinomine Kitumba is playing in driving economic growth.
