INVITATION TO THE DISCLOSURE MEETING FOR THE PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION OF A PROCESSING PLANT WITH ITS ANCILLARY PROJECT, WITHIN LICENCE NO. 19820-HQ-LML AREA OF SINOMINE MINERALS COMPANY, IN KAINDU CHIEFDOM – MUMBWA DISTICT, CENTRAL PROVINCE, BY SINOMINE KITUMBA MINERALS COMPANY LIMITED
Sinomine Kitumba Minerals Company Limited intends to construct a Processing Plant with its Ancillary at its mine, License No. 19820-HQ-LML, in Kaindu Chiefdom, Mumbwa District, Central Province.
The Processing Plant shall include the following infrastructure
- Waste Rock Dumps
- Overburden Dumps
- Leach Plant
- Tailings Storage Facility
- Sulphuric Acid Plant
- Concentrator
To mention but a few;
Investment cost shall be US$ 436,000.00
In conformity with the requirements of the Environmental Management (Amendment) Act No. 8 of 2023, read together with the Environmental Impact Assessment Regulation Statutory Instrument No. 28 of 1997 and appropriate International Best Practices, development of this nature requires an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) study. The ESIA study will ensure that negative environmental, social and economic impacts are identified and appropriate mitigation measures proposed prior to project implementation whilst enhancing the positive impacts of the project.
Sinomine Kitumba Minerals Company, engaged Nondeknox Consulting Limited to undertake the EIA for the proposed project. The EIA process involves an on-going stakeholder engagement, which includes government departments, civic leaders and communities affected by the proposed project. A Scoping Meeting at which affected stakeholders and interested parties gave their questions, concerns and views, on the above proposed project, was held on 28 May, 2025.
Consultants have since studied and attended to the above and will present the findings of their investigations at this Disclosure Meeting, in Mumbwa District, at the following venue and time.
