The Kaindu Royal Establishment has consented to the proposed construction of a water pipeline from Kafue River to Sinomine Kitumba Minerals Company Limited SKM mine site.

Chief Kaindu says he has no objection to the proposed project as it is part of the planned development in the chiefdom.

The traditional leader was speaking during a stakeholder engagement by SKM and the traditional leadership at his palace recently.

Speaking during the same meeting, Kaindu palace chairman Mwaba Chiti assured the company that the traditional leadership will continue working with the investors to foster development in the chiefdom.

Mr Chiti said the traditional leadership is ready to facilitate engagements between the affected community members and SKM consultants to ensure mutual understanding between the parties.

And Headman Sikute urged SKM to ensure that they prioritise local people when employment opportunities arise.

The traditional leader who is also Kaindu Palace secretary said that opportunities should be given to the people from the chiefdom before others are considered to benefit the local community.

And Nondeknox Consulting Limited lead consultant Christopher Kaniki assured the community that his firm is working with all relevant government departments to ensure strict adherence to the law.

Mr Kaniki said that his team will include officers from the ministry of agriculture, the vice president’s office through the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit DMMU, Mumbwa district administration and a land valuation officer to ensure that procedures and regulations are followed.
