During the session, employees were taken through the fundamentals of fire safety, including how fires start and spread. Particular emphasis was placed on hazard identification within the mining environment, where the presence of heavy machinery, electrical systems, fuel, and flammable materials increases the risk of fire incidents if not properly managed.

A key highlight of the training was the demonstration of various types of fire extinguishers. Participants were shown how to identify and correctly use water, foam, dry chemical powder, and carbon dioxide (CO₂) extinguishers depending on the class of fire. The facilitators also demonstrated the PASS technique — Pull, Aim, Squeeze, and Sweep — ensuring that employees understood the correct procedure for handling extinguishers during emergencies.
