On 10 February 2026, from 14:00 to 17:00, Sinomine Kitumba Minerals successfully conducted a comprehensive Traffic Safety Awareness Training session at the Sinomine Kitumba New Camp Dining Hall. The training formed part of the company’s proactive preparations for the upcoming Spring Festival, a period traditionally characterized by increased travel and higher road traffic volumes.

The session was led by Mr. Arlen Chikumba, ESG Coordinator, who delivered detailed presentations to strengthen employees’ understanding of road safety responsibilities. He underscored the importance of complying with national traffic regulations, adopting defensive driving techniques, and maintaining a high level of alertness at all times. Mr. Chikumba emphasized that road safety is not only a legal obligation but also a shared social responsibility that protects lives and prevents avoidable tragedies.

During the training, participants were taken through key safety measures, including observing speed limits, maintaining safe following distances, proper overtaking procedures, and consistently using seat belts. Additional focus was placed on avoiding distracted driving, particularly the use of mobile phones while behind the wheel, as well as the dangers associated with driving under fatigue or in poor weather conditions. Employees were encouraged to conduct thorough pre-trip vehicle inspections, checking tires, brakes, lights, and other critical components to ensure their vehicles are roadworthy before embarking on journeys.

Interactive discussions and scenario-based learning allowed employees to reflect on real-life incidents and identify practical strategies to reduce risks. The training also highlighted the importance of journey management, time planning, and ensuring adequate rest, especially for long-distance travel during the festive season.
