The handover ceremony, held at Kaindu Palace on the 7th January 2026, around 11:00 and 14:00 hours, in a continued demonstration of its dedication to community welfare, Sinomine Kitumba Minerals has once again reaffirmed its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitments by donating a brand new 4 x 4 Toyota Hilux to His Royal Highness Chief Kaindu. This generous gesture comes after the Chief’s vehicle recently broke down, impeding his ability to move easily within his jurisdiction. Kitumba Mine’s commitment to CSR remains a key pillar of its operational strategy, demonstrating a deep-rooted responsibility to contribute positively beyond mining activities. This latest donation sets a commendable example of collaboration and goodwill that strengthens ties between the mine and its host community.

The donation aims to facilitate smoother and more efficient transportation for His Royal Highness, enabling him to fulfil his leadership roles and duties better as he serves his people. Speaking at the handover ceremony, Mr. Mwiinga Chifwepa, Deputy Mine Manager of Sinomine Kitumba Minerals Company Limited, emphasized that this contribution is part of the mine’s ongoing efforts to support local communities, their leaders, and improve the community welfare.

Speaking through the Palace Chairperson, Mr. Mwaba Chiti, the Chief expressed heartfelt gratitude to the government of the Republic of Zambia for bringing in investors such as Sinomine Kitumba in the Chiefdom. “Within a short period of time, we have seen a lot of employment being created, the D181 road being worked on, the community market shelter, water pipeline project, and today this rare gesture of receiving a Toyota Hilux,” read the speech. He also appreciated the Chiefdom and the company’s partnership, urging the mine to continue embarking on various initiatives aimed at improving livelihoods and fostering sustainable development in the Chiefdom.

As the handover ceremony came to a close, a vote of thanks was delivered by the Ward Councillor for Kalwanyembe Ward, Mr. Chebo Mulowa, who urged other investors, especially those in mining, to emulate what Sinomine is doing to uplift the welfare of the people in the community.
